What we keep, and why

When you rent or join a list

We keep your name, email, phone number and mailing address, whether you told us you are an active-duty servicemember, the bay you rented, the dates and amounts on your account, and the version of the Rental Agreement you agreed to and when. If you name an alternative contact for notices, we keep their details too. A lease signed on paper at the lot also records your driver's license or state ID number and date of birth.

We need these to run the lease: send rent reminders and statements, and send the notices the Rental Agreement and Kansas law require, by mail and by email, if rent goes unpaid. By renting, you agree to get those by email as well as by mail. A waitlist request keeps only the name and contact you gave, and only until we have called you.

Cards and bank accounts

Card and bank payments go through Stripe. Your card number and your bank account number never touch our site or our database; if you link a bank account, you sign in to your bank through Stripe, and we only ever see the bank's name and the last four digits. Stripe's own privacy policy covers what they keep.

Who else sees it

Staff at Silknitter Storage, and the companies that run parts of the site for us, each only for that job: Supabase (our database and sign-in), Netlify (hosting), Stripe (payments), Resend (the emails we send and receive) and Sentry (error reports, below). Nobody else, unless the law requires it or you ask us to. We do not sell or share your details with advertisers.

Cookies and tracking

We do not use advertising or analytics trackers. Signing in, to your account or to the staff back office, sets a session cookie so you stay signed in.

When something on the site breaks, Sentry records what went wrong so we can fix it. For some visits (about one in ten, and any visit where an error happens) it also keeps a replay of how the page was used: clicks and page changes, with every piece of text you type or read on the page blanked out and images left out. Replays are kept for a limited time and used only to fix problems.

The site's fonts come from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google for them and Google sees your IP address. Stripe's payment pages, which you reach when you pay, set their own cookies under Stripe's privacy policy.

Email support@silknitterstorage.com to see, correct or, once your lease has ended and the account is settled, remove what we hold about you.
